The Minority Outreach and Technical Assistance (MOTA) program provides competitive grants to community-based organizations to conduct chronic disease prevention, education, outreach, and linkage-to-care services in racial and ethnic minority and underserved communities across Maryland. Operated by the Maryland Department of Health's Office of Minority Health and Health Disparities (MHHD), the program aims to ensure minority community participation in publicly funded state health programs and to reduce racial and ethnic health disparities. Health focus areas include asthma, cardiovascular disease, cancer, obesity, diabetes/prediabetes, tobacco, infant mortality/pregnancy and birth outcomes, and mental health.
