Independent Living Older Blind (ILOB) Program

Award amount varies

About this opportunity

The Independent Living Older Blind (ILOB) Program helps individuals who are 55 or older and are blind or have a vision impairment to live independently in their homes and communities. Rehabilitation specialists visit participants at home to provide assessment and training in daily living skills, personal care, household tasks, safe cooking, and connections to community resources and peer support groups. The program serves all areas of Maryland, including rural counties, and most participants do not have an employment goal. More broadly, the program provides leadership and support in promoting employment, economic self-sufficiency, and independence of individuals with disabilities, with a specific focus on those whose primary goal is independent living rather than employment.
