About this opportunity

Calvert County's Hazard Mitigation Assistance grant program, administered by the Division of Emergency Management, helps high-hazard property owners reduce risk through federally funded projects. Grants cover up to 75% of project costs for eligible mitigation work, with the remaining 25% (and any cost overruns) paid by the homeowner. Eligible project types include acquisition and demolition (buying the property, tearing down the structure, and returning land to its natural state) and elevation (raising a flood-prone structure above the Base Flood Elevation). The BRIC program for cliff house mitigation was ended by FEMA on April 4, 2025; flood mitigation funding through the Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) grant program remains available.
