About this opportunity

Roots for Resilience is an initiative designed to help Maryland's lower Eastern Shore adapt to climate change by enhancing nature's ability to store carbon and buffer climate impacts. The program funds tree planting, coastal habitat restoration, living shorelines, and community engagement to strengthen natural defenses and reduce carbon emissions. Activities include wetland restoration, tidal reconnection, urban forestry expansion, improved forestry management, and outreach to private landowners and communities. The initiative unites existing relationships and programs on the Lower Shore to build a healthier, more resilient landscape. Funding is provided in part by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
