The Maryland Sustainable Communities (SC) Designation is a place-based geographic designation program administered by the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD), Division of Neighborhood Revitalization, that supports community development, revitalization, and sustainability in older communities statewide. Created by the State of Maryland, the designation concentrates state resources to support coordinated revitalization efforts. Jurisdictions submit an action plan identifying specific geographic areas and revitalization goals covering housing, transportation, economic development, and neighborhood revitalization.
