The Workforce Shortage Student Assistance Grant (WSSAG) Program provides financial assistance to Maryland students who plan to work in specific high-need career fields with workforce shortages after graduation. Eligible fields include child care, human services, teaching, nursing, physical and occupational therapy, social work, law, and public service. Awards are granted based on a combination of academic merit (GPA) and financial need. Award amounts vary by institution type and enrollment status, and recipients must fulfill a service obligation by working in their eligible field in Maryland after completing their degree. Awards may be renewed for up to five years if eligibility requirements continue to be met. All awards are subject to availability of funding.
