This program provides grants to Community Solar Subscriber Organizations to offset costs associated with Power Purchase Agreements (PPA), enabling community solar projects to offer clean energy to low-income, overburdened, and underserved households at a lower cost. The program is statewide and competitive, with two areas of interest (AOI-1 and AOI-2) funded at different levels. Approximately $17 million in total funding is available from the Strategic Energy Investment Fund using Solar Alternative Compliance Payment funding. AOI-1 receives $5 million and AOI-2 receives $12 million. AOI-2 projects must be sited on a Maryland landfill, rubble-fill, or brownfield site.
