The Access Maryland Program funds capital improvements to make state-owned facilities accessible to people with disabilities. It provides capital budget funds to bring state-owned facilities into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990, ADA Accessible Design Standards of 2010, and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. The program covers state-owned facilities, University System of Maryland campuses, and state-owned parks. State agencies, University System of Maryland campuses, and state-owned parks submit project requests to the Maryland Department of Disabilities (MDOD), which reviews and prioritizes them and recommends approved projects for inclusion in the state Capital Budget.
