About this opportunity
The USDA Foods in Schools program (also known as the Food Distribution Program) supports domestic nutrition programs and American agricultural producers by purchasing 100% American-grown and -produced foods for use by schools and child care facilities. It provides USDA food commodities to eligible public schools, private nonprofit schools, residential child care institutions, and Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) sponsors. Maryland schools can choose from a catalog of over 200 domestically grown fruits, vegetables, grains, poultry, dairy, and meat products to incorporate into their menus, reducing school food expenses by an average of 20%.
