About this opportunity

The Creek ReLeaf Program increases forested area within Frederick County by working with private and public landowners to plant native trees and shrubs on eligible parcels. The program places a permanent conservation easement on participating land and provides a land assessment, a forest plan, native tree and shrub installation, five years of mowing and maintenance to establish the forest stand, and payment to the landowner for the conservation easement. The program helps reduce landowner maintenance burdens such as mowing, invasive species control, and managing slopes, drainage, or erosion issues. After five years of county-supported maintenance, the property reverts to owner management, with county staff performing site inspections every three years.
