The Maryland Housing Counseling Fund (MHCF) provides annual competitive grants to non-profit organizations and local government agencies that offer housing counseling services and free or low-cost legal assistance. Supported activities include homebuyer education, pre-purchase counseling, foreclosure counseling, rental counseling, financial capability coaching, and legal services for homeowners facing foreclosure or renters facing eviction. HUD-approved housing counseling agencies with HUD-certified counselors on staff receive priority funding consideration.
