About this opportunity
The Maryland Makerspace Initiative Program (Makerspace Program) provides financial and technical assistance to support the establishment, expansion, and operation of Makerspaces throughout Maryland. A Makerspace is defined as a community space that provides access to tools, technology, and knowledge for learners and entrepreneurs; results in the prototyping or creation of physical goods; and supports technical education opportunities for personal growth, workforce training, and early-stage business ventures. Grants are awarded to local governments, government-designated entities, or nonprofit organizations to start new Makerspaces, expand existing ones, or develop Makerspace programming. Technical assistance of up to 10 hours is also available from Open Works in Baltimore City.
