About this opportunity

This program provides competitive grants to teacher preparation programs at Maryland institutions of higher education. The goal is to help students from groups historically underrepresented in the teaching profession — including African Americans, American Indians/Alaska Natives, Hispanics/Latinos, people from low-income backgrounds, first-generation college students, and individuals with disabilities — achieve teacher preparation and certification requirements. Priority is given to proposals that create alternative accelerated pathways into teaching, consortium-based approaches, standards-aligned programming with mentoring, transcript analysis and licensure pathways, transfer pathways from community colleges, and targeted interventions and support for male-identifying students.
