Award amount varies
About this opportunity
Title I, Part A provides financial assistance to local educational agencies (LEAs) and public schools with high numbers or high percentages of children from low-income families to help ensure all children receive a fair, equitable, and high-quality education and meet challenging academic standards, closing educational achievement gaps. Funds support social-emotional learning, extra instruction in reading and mathematics, additional teachers, instructional materials, and after-school and summer programs. Federal funds are allocated to LEAs and schools through four statutory formulas based primarily on census poverty estimates and the cost of education in each state. All 24 LEAs in Maryland receive Title I funds.
