Blueprint State Aid to Local School Systems

Award amount varies

About this opportunity

The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) calculates, distributes, and monitors state education funding for Maryland's local school systems (LSSs) under the Blueprint for Maryland's Future. The funding formula has three categories: (1) Base Amount (foundation aid based on total student enrollment), (2) Weighted Amounts (targeted funds for multilingual learners, students with disabilities, students in poverty, college and career readiness, reading support, Pre-K, teacher career ladders, compensatory education, and concentration of poverty), and (3) Program Amounts (transportation aid, comparable wage index adjustment, and guaranteed tax base aid for less-wealthy counties). State and local shares are determined based on local wealth as defined in Maryland law.
