About this opportunity
Maryland's Boating Access Program is a federal grant program administered in Maryland by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources' Waterway Improvement and Infrastructure Program, under the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Wildlife and Sport Fish Restoration (WSFR) Program. It funds the construction and renovation of publicly owned boat ramps used by recreational, trailered motorboats. Funding comes from federal excise taxes on fishing equipment and motorboat and small engine fuels, apportioned to states by formula. At least 15% of each state's federal apportionment must go toward boating access. Maryland receives approximately $500,000 per year in Sport Fish Restoration funding for boating access projects.
