Grant opportunity ยท Maryland Department of Natural Resources
Maryland Abandoned Boat and Debris Program
Up to $25,000 per award
About this opportunity
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) provides reimbursable grants and technical expertise to help authorized public agencies remove abandoned boats and hazardous debris from Maryland state waterways. Abandoned vessels and debris can pose navigation hazards and environmental risks. Grants cover up to 100% of removal and disposal costs, up to $25,000 per project, and are reimbursable after completion of work and compliance with all grant terms and conditions. Each grant project period does not exceed one year. Funding comes from the state Waterway Improvement Fund, which is generated from a one-time 5% excise tax paid when a boat is purchased and titled in Maryland. The program aims to keep state waterways safe for navigation and protect the environment.
