Maryland Livestock Processing Loan Program
$250,000 – $2,500,000 per award
About this opportunity
Offers loans to help start up or expand small- and medium-sized USDA-inspected slaughter facilities in Maryland. The program supports processing of meat, poultry, and blue catfish, and can provide standalone financing or work alongside commercial lenders. Loan amounts range from $250,000 to $2,500,000 and can be used to purchase real estate, construct or expand a livestock processing facility, or buy equipment. MARBIDCO also provides an equity grant matching the borrower's equity contribution dollar-for-dollar up to 10% of project costs, capped at $250,000. Large meat and poultry processing companies (those holding a top-four market share in the sector) are not eligible. Funding is derived from the USDA Meat and Poultry Intermediary Lending Program Grant with matching funds from MARBIDCO.
