About this opportunity
The Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) provides grants to eligible residential and commercial customers to install qualifying battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Maryland. The program aims to enhance grid reliability, increase energy resilience, and accelerate adoption of clean energy technologies statewide. It replaces the discontinued Maryland Energy Storage Income Tax Credit Program, which ended at the close of Calendar Year 2024. Grants are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis through a two-step application process. The program offsets the cost of purchasing and installing a grid-connected battery energy storage system at residential and commercial properties.
