About this opportunity
Trout in the Classroom is an aquatic resources education program for classroom teachers, environmental education centers, and nature centers serving grades 3–12. Participating schools raise rainbow trout from eggs to fingerlings in classroom aquariums, conduct science lessons tied to state and national standards, and then release the fish at an approved site. The program is managed in Maryland by Trout Unlimited's Mid-Atlantic chapter in partnership with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR). Maryland DNR provides financial aid as the budget allows for equipment (starter kits and chillers for new schools, replacement kits for returning schools), hatchery-raised rainbow trout eggs, fish food, lesson plans, reimbursement for fish release field trip costs, and teacher training…
