MDOT's Climate Focused Funding Portal identifies and funds transportation projects with climate benefits in Maryland. The transportation sector is Maryland's largest source of greenhouse gas emissions. The portal helps identify and implement projects that reduce emissions or improve resilience to climate impacts such as flooding, extreme heat, and storm damage. This is the second round of the portal, following a successful first round in 2024. Eligible applicants include Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs), local governments, WMATA, and MDOT Modal Administrations. Funding is provided as federal pass-through grants (Carbon Reduction Program) for capital projects, with a 20% minimum cash match required.
