Advantage Maryland (also known as MEDAAF — Maryland Economic Development Assistance Authority and Fund) is a flexible, broad-based program administered by the Maryland Department of Commerce that provides conditional grants, loans, and investments to support economic development initiatives in Maryland. Awards are made on a competitive basis and projects must be located within Priority Funding Areas. Six financing capabilities are offered: (1) Significant Strategic Economic Development Opportunities — loans up to $10 million or 20% of fund balance; (2) Local Economic Development Opportunity — loans up to $5 million, conditional loans and grants up to $2 million; (3) Direct Assistance to Local Jurisdictions or MEDCO — up to $3 million for land acquisition, infrastructure, fixed assets, f…
