Maryland's House Keys 4 Employees (HK4E) program is a partnership between Calvert County and the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development that provides matching funds for down payment and closing costs to help eligible employees purchase a home. Employers sign a participation agreement to become an Employer Partner, making their employees eligible for the assistance. Local match for private-sector and public-sector employees could total up to $5,000, equivalent to the state contribution. Calvert County government also participates as an employer and provides matching funds for county government and public school system employees. The program is designed to make homeownership more affordable for the county's working population.
