About this opportunity
Maryland's primary state-administered cost-share program for private forest management. Provides financial cost-share assistance to private, non-industrial woodland owners who manage their forest land in Maryland. Reimburses eligible landowners for up to 65 percent of the cost of approved silvicultural practices (not to exceed $5,000 per year or $15,000 per 3-year period) after practices are completed, inspected, and approved by a local forester. Eligible practices include preparation of forest stewardship plans, reforestation of open land (including abandoned farm fields and cutover woodlands), tree planting, site preparation, thinning, pruning, prescribed burning, crop tree release, invasive species control, herbicide treatments, and planting of seedlings.
