About this opportunity
TAP is a competitively selected, federally funded reimbursement program administered by the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA). Through TAP, Safe Routes to School (SRTS) projects and initiatives support the planning, development, and implementation of projects and activities that improve safety and reduce traffic around schools. TAP funds cover 80% of eligible project costs and require a 20% local match. Non-infrastructure activities such as education materials, promotional/outreach materials, and behavioral studies are also eligible. Projects must be located within approximately 2 miles of a school serving grades K–12. The application window is announced by MDOT yearly and usually occurs in the Spring.
