About this opportunity
LEEF is a statewide agricultural certification program established by Maryland's Chesapeake Bay Legacy Act (effective July 1, 2025) and administered by the Maryland Department of Agriculture (MDA). The program is designed to accelerate conservation efforts on farms by recognizing and rewarding environmentally engaged farming practices. Farmers earn points for implementing conservation practices (such as cover crops, nutrient reductions, buffers, pollinator habitats, conservation tillage, natural filters, wildlife habitats, healthy soils, and on-farm renewable energy) and community practices (such as research participation, mentorship, food bank contributions, farmers market nutrition program participation, and enrollment in Maryland's Certified Local Farm and Fish Program).
