The Brownfields Revitalization Incentive Program (BRIP) promotes economic development and environmental cleanup, especially in distressed urban areas, by encouraging the redevelopment of underutilized properties contaminated by hazardous substances, pollutants, or contaminants (brownfields). BRIP supports Maryland's Smart Growth efforts by providing financial incentives—including grants, loans, and a real property tax credit—to eligible brownfield sites that have completed the Voluntary Cleanup Program (VCP) and received a Maryland Department of Commerce designation as a qualified brownfields site.
