About this opportunity

A federal grant program administered through FEMA that provides funding to reduce flood damage risk to homes insured under the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). St. Mary's County Department of Emergency Services (DES) applies on behalf of eligible homeowners as a subrecipient of funding from FEMA via the Maryland Department of Emergency Management (MDEM). Projects are ranked by both MDEM and FEMA based on eligibility, cost-effectiveness, and priority before funding is awarded. Submission of an application does not guarantee funding. Once approved, funding release and project start may take approximately one to two additional years.
