About this opportunity

The Readiness and Recreation Initiative (RARI) provides matching grants for projects that include an acquisition component and enhance recreational opportunities in sentinel landscapes or Readiness and Environmental Protection Integration (REPI) Opportunity areas. Counties and municipalities in Maryland apply through the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), which then submits applications to the National Park Service (NPS). The program is part of the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF). RARI grants may be matched with REPI grants, potentially resulting in a fully federally funded project.
