About this opportunity

The Bay Restoration Fund (BRF) provides grants to help homeowners upgrade their onsite sewage disposal systems (septic systems) to Best Available Technology (BAT) systems that reduce nitrogen pollution entering the Chesapeake Bay. Approved BAT systems are ranked by the Maryland Department of the Environment based on total nitrogen reduction, total cost, and cost per pound of nitrogen removed. Eligible systems include field-verified systems (e.g., BioMicrobics RetroFast, Norweco Singulair TNT, Fuji Clean CEN 5, AdvanTex, AquaKlear, SeptiTech, Hydro Action, Hoot BNR, Singulair Green) as well as systems currently under field verification. BAT systems are classified as BAT Class I (field verification complete) or BAT Class II (currently under field verification).
