The Montgomery County Biotechnology Investor Incentive Program (BIIP) awards supplemental grants to qualified investors who have been approved for and received a final tax credit certificate from the State of Maryland's Biotechnology Investment Incentive Tax Credit Program and who have invested in biotechnology companies located in Montgomery County. The grant is prorated based on the program's appropriation and the investor's share of total state tax credits received by investors in County biotechnology businesses. Grants are automatically disbursed — typically between March and May each year — for investments made in the prior calendar year, once investors are approved and receive their final tax credit certificate from the state program.
