The Residential Substance Abuse Treatment (RSAT) for State Prisoners Program helps state, local, and tribal governments develop and implement substance use disorder (SUD) or co-occurring substance use and mental health disorder treatment programs in correctional and detention facilities. It also funds community reintegration services for individuals after release from incarceration. The goal is to break the cycle of drugs and violence by reducing demand for, use, and trafficking of illegal drugs. Funds support three types of programs: residential treatment, jail-based treatment, and aftercare.
