A grant that incentivizes beginning urban farmers to seek commercial lender financing for the development of their urban agricultural enterprises, including the purchase of farm property in an eligible urban area. The grant is designed to offset up-front costs that are typically too great for many beginning urban farmers. MARBIDCO has partnered with Horizon Farm Credit to establish and manage this fund. The program provides lending incentives to support urban agriculture commercial activities statewide in Maryland. Grants cover up to 25% of total project costs and no more than 33% of the approved commercial loan amount, and operate on an ongoing basis.
