The Small Acreage Next Generation Farmland Acquisition Program (SANG) helps qualified young or beginning farmers who face high farmland costs and limited access to financial capital purchase smaller farmland properties between 10 and 49 acres. MARBIDCO provides 30% to 60% of the Fair Market Value (land only) in exchange for a permanent agricultural conservation easement, and that funding is applied as a down payment toward the farmland purchase. A commercial or farm credit lender must also participate in each transaction. The program fills a gap in the original Next Gen Program, which typically requires properties of at least 50 acres or contiguous with preserved property.
